The Significance of News and Last Page Content in "Zar Kurmanji" Magazine (1926-1932)

A Content Analysis Study

Abstract

This research focuses on "Zar Kirmanji" magazine (1926-1932), which was the first magazine in Erbil governorate, published in Rawanduz city by Hussein Huzni Mukriani in collaboration with Sayed Taha Efendi. The research specifically emphasizes the analysis of the last pages' content across the magazine's issues, which contained 107 news, announcements, and articles published in 24 issues. This content holds significant value for researchers to understand how the Kurdish language was used for news writing and information sharing in magazine back pages nearly a century ago, and how the issues and problems of that era were allocated space and documented on the magazine's last pages.

The research findings reveal that despite logistical and financial challenges, the magazine played a crucial role in reviving Kurdish culture and advancing education in the Kurdish language. Furthermore, the magazine covered diverse topics including administrative affairs, culture, health, agriculture, and education, demonstrating the magazine's continuous efforts to serve the intellectual and social needs of its readers at that time.
