Abstract

Chronic diseases are among the main challenges affecting children’s mental health, as they cause pressures that may lead to difficulties in psychological adjustment. Parental emotional support plays an important role in reducing these effects and enhancing children’s ability to cope with their illness. This study aimed to identify the level of parental emotional support provided to children with chronic diseases, to examine their level of psychological adjustment according to gender, and to determine the correlation between parental emotional support and psychological adjustment. The validity and reliability of the scales were verified and applied to a random sample of (194) children with chronic diseases. The results showed that the sample had a high level of parental emotional support and a high level of psychological adjustment. Gender had no significant effect, and there was a positive and significant correlation between parental emotional support and psychological adjustment.
