الملخص

The current study, which is entitled Verbal and non-verbal Reinforcement and Punishment in the Learning and Teaching Process, locates itself in the domain of educational linguistics and pedagogical linguistics. It sheds light on different types of reinforcement and verbal and non-verbal punishment, which have a pivotal role in developing and enhancing the process of education and in modifying educators’ behaviors. This theory is Studied today Within the field of Psychology, and its usefulness extends to many other fields. One of these fields is teaching process, which is Considered a form of education, and the teacher has a major role in it.

The study has adopted the descriptive analytical method into account one of positive reinforcement of Skinner’s behaviorism which aims at stimulating positive behaviors and reducing the undesired acts.

The paper is composed of major sections besides the introduction and the conclusion. The first section is an introduction to educational and pedagogical linguistics. In this section, we have focused on these topics: Content Educational Linguistics, Pedagogical Linguistics: Summary and Introduction, Educational Linguistics and Learning and Teaching Process, Learning and Teaching Process from a Behavioral Theory standpoint. the second section deals with the role of reinforcement and punishment—verbal and nonverbal—in the process of learning and teaching. In this section, we have focused on these topics (Model of Operant Conditioning, Programs of Reinforcement theory, Different types of Reinforcement).
