Abstract

This study investigates the significance of voice and body gestures of the actors’ performance in the theatre. Despite understanding the value of voice and body movements، they are often considered as two different and separate subjects rather than as complementary artistic components. This direction has created a gap in analysing how they interact as a unique artistic unit. Therefore، this study fills this gap. The main objective of this study is to assure how the artistic combination of voice and body movement can provide vivid and believable characters along with transferring deep emotions to the audiences.

In the theoretical framework، this work is consisting of two essential sections. The first section deals with introducing concepts such as scientific definition of voice، expressing approaches، vocal features (tone and rhythm) and role of body gestures. Secondly، practical sides and necessary exercises are highlighted. Using descriptive-analytical approach، the study analyses theatrical show of (We Do not have time for singing) in the practical part. The study asserts how actors convey their feelings of frustration، anger، love and regret due to melodiousness of voice and movements. The essential findings assure that voice is not only a means of transferring sounds، but also a mirror of the actor’s heart. Whenever the voice integrates totally with the body movements، acting accomplishes an effective high-level. Finally، the study recommends actors and directors should concentrate more on joint training through which voice and body are managed as an integrated unit.
