Reflection of war on the techniques of Artist Sirwan Baran

Abstract

      Sirwan Baran was a well-known Iraqi-Kurdish artist. He explored themes of war, identity, displacement, and cultural memory that permeate contemporary schools. His art encompassed diverse media such as painting and sculpture. He combined elements of traditional Iraqi art with modern techniques. He applied the creative use of materials and techniques in order to make viewers feel deeply about the painting. His work often explored the impact of political and social revolution about individual and collective identity and reflects of his own experiences with displacement and cultural change. Artist Sirvan Baran's message to the audience is that by juxtaposing traditional ideas with contemporary beauty, he revised the narratives of heritage and belonging.
